holey shit

this is no doubt the best way to eat an egg.
sometimes i feel bad for its lack of a strong identity,
as i've heard it called about six different names.

i call it
hole in the middle
{original?}

mum makes it best.
although i'm guessing the one in this picture could give her a run for her money.

Sad story- when I was first married I made these for my husband. I was proud to be a cooking wife and proud of my awesome breakfast. He couldn't eat them because he can't stand runny yolks. I had no clue! I was sad to see them go in the trash. Sigh. Lesson learned: not everyone likes the most amazing breakfast ever.

This was totally my go to breakfast all last semester when I was running late and I could bring it with me! I would cook the yolks through so it didn't make a gigantic mess is my car, though. That bread looks fantastic! Love the blog! I used to play mallet percussion, too! Always got stuck on vibraphone. Ha.

hello! lovely blog :)

used to make this all the time as a kid, we called it eggs in a nest. i recently went out to brunch with a friend and this is what they ordered but they'd named it toad in a hole which i thought was a great name!!

my boyfriend has started to master "eggs in a basket" (it really does have too many names!) Definitely the best way to eat an egg, love it.

I love these! My mom used to make them, she called them bullseyes. I showed my husband how to make them, and he makes them better than I do. I like the name "toad in the hole" better than bullseyes though. And a runny yolk is a must.
